FTBs seeking advice 'more than ever'

Many FTBs are searching for advice when it comes to getting a foot on the property ladder.

An increasing number of first-time buyers (FTBs) are seeking advice to help them get their foot on the first rung of the property ladder, it has been found.

According to unbiased.co.uk's Advice Drivers report, FTB buying accounted for 40 per cent of all market mortgage advice searches on its 'find a mortgage adviser' service.

The website noted this number has increased markedly from the 36 per cent recorded in June 2010.

Moreover, interest in buy-to-let also featured highly, with 19 per cent of consumer searches falling in this category.

Karen Barrett, chief executive at unbiased.co.uk, said of FTBs: "It's really good to see that they are looking for this type of advice to ensure they get a complete overview of all the products which are currently available."

The findings come shortly after recent research from LV= revealed the average age of FTBs in 2025 is likely to be 41, with many people putting off stepping onto the property ladder for financial reasons.
