Property News - Landlords 'must play fair' when renting for the Olympics

The NLA has offered top tips for those planning to rent out properties during the Olympics.

People in London considering renting out their properties to those visiting the city when it plays host to the Olympic Games next year have been offered some top tips on how best to do so.

The National Landlords Association (NLA) - which represents 1.2 million landlords in the UK - has reiterated to would-be proprietors that they need to play fair and make sure the accommodation is properly furnished, as well as maintaining the setting to a high standard.

According to the organisation, individuals should ensure rent for the entire tenancy period is obtained upfront, while an inventory detailing the full contents of a property also needs to be taken.

NLA chairman David Salisbury warned people who do not rent their homes properly could fall foul of the law as a result.

"It's important that homeowners wishing to rent their properties during the 2012 Olympics are aware of their responsibilities to tenants, as well as the various regulations they must comply with," he added.
