Property News - 'No change' for June house prices

The housing market remained static across June, it has been found.

There was little house price change witnessed across the UK in June, new figures have revealed.

According to the Land Registry House Price Index, the market remained relatively static throughout the month.

The annual house price change currently amounts to -2.5 per cent - the sixth month in a row when the figure has stood at less than zero and the most significant dip since October 2009.

It means the volume of property transactions over the last 12 months has decreased, with monthly sales figures calculated at 42,733 between January and April 2011 - a level markedly less than the 45,509 recorded over the same period in 2010.

The statistics also revealed the average house price for a property in England and Wales came to £161,479.

Recently, director of Mouseprice Selwyn Lim claimed confidence is slowly returning to the UK housing market at present, albeit at a very low level.
