UK houses 'in strong demand'

Demand remains strong for property, it is claimed.

Many people in the UK wish to purchase houses but may not have the financial resources to do so.

That is according to Darren Owen, director at Property and Finance Solutions, who says the situation is getting more positive for prospective buyers.

"Once the financing comes back to the market then people will start to perk up because the demand for buying houses has never gone away," he claims.

The interest in property is coming from both investors and residential customers, which means there is a wide potential market.

And the fact that the country still has "a massive shortfall of houses" will combine to create improved conditions in the property industry, as long as finance is available, Mr Owen adds.

According to a report from Nationwide, the average house price rose by 0.2 per cent in July to stand at £168,731.

This placed the typical cost at 0.4 per cent less than it was in the same month of 2010.
