Mortgage intermediaries 'rising in confidence'

Future prospects are looking positive for mortgage intermediaries, it has been claimed.

Mortgage intermediaries in the UK are becoming increasingly confident regarding the sector's future, new research has indicated.

Compiled by the Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association (IMLA), the findings show optimism is high among such figures as more than one-third of those polled saying they expect a rise in business volume.

In addition, around half of respondents claimed market conditions have been improving of late.

John Heron, chairman of the IMLA - which is a trade association headquartered in London that was first set up in 1998 - said the positive sentiment is a reflection of general improvements witnessed throughout the mortgage market.

The industry figure added: "The pick-up is slow but market conditions are gradually improving, particularly in the buy-to-let and remortgage markets."

He explained that while many people believe good home loan deals are not available at the moment, this research suggests otherwise and proves decent mortgages are waiting to be found.
