House prices rose slightly across August, new figures have shown.

UK property values increased slightly across August, new figures have indicated.

According to the latest UK house price index statistics from the Department for Communities and Local Government - which is an organisation seeking a shift of power from Westminster to local councils - these costs rose by 0.6 per cent over the four-week period, despite falling by 1.3 per cent across the year.

The research revealed the average mix-adjusted house price amounted to £208,476, while such values remained unchanged over the quarter to August.

This compared to a 0.2 per cent decrease seen over from the three-week period leading to May.

In addition, the figures showed that average housing costs during the year in all countries of the UK fell, with England's levels reducing by 1.2 per cent, Wales's tumbling 0.3 per cent, Scotland's decreasing by 1.5 per cent and Northern Ireland's dipping the most - by 4.3 per cent.
