More families 'choosing to rent'

Renting is proving a popular option for families at present.

A higher number of families than ever before are now looking to rent property in the UK, it has been suggested.

Daniel Cox, sales director at the WMP Group, noted many mothers and fathers are looking to move their children into rented accommodation as opposed to buying a dwelling at present.

The industry figure stated: "Renting has always been about younger people or couples, but more families are looking to rent now than ever."

As such, more applicants are hoping to move into larger houses rather than smaller flats, as it would be impractical to squeeze a four or five member family into a two-bedroom apartment.

Mr Cox observed his company currently has "quite a lot" of families on its books at the moment.

His comments come after recent research from LSL Property Services revealed rises in rent in England and Wales slowed to its lowest pace in eight months during October, escalating by just 0.2 per cent.
