Property News - UK adults 'regret not buying property'

Many people believe they rented for too long in 2011.

Many adults in the UK continue to regret the fact that they have not yet purchased property, new research has shown.

Carried out by First Direct, the study revealed 12 per cent of those questioned believe they continued to rent their living space for too long in 2011.

These individuals stated they should have attempted to purchase a place of their own during the last 12 months, while just four per cent of respondents said they wished they had not bought a dwelling in this time.

Bruno Genovese, head of savings at the organisation - which is a division of HSBC Bank and a member of HSBC Group - noted January can be a great time for people to start getting their money matters in order for the coming year.

The industry figure stated: "The earlier people start to plan their finances and look to the future, the better their long term financial position will be."
