Quality of life 'best for East Cambridgeshire residents'Posted: 30 Mar 2012 13:50:17 GMT
East Cambridgeshire has been identified as one of the best places to set up home.
The quality of life enjoyed by residents in East Cambridgeshire is currently better than that enjoyed elsewhere in the UK, new research has shown.
Carried out by Halifax, the study revealed the majority of people in this area are in general good health and have a life expectancy that is four years greater than the national average.
In addition, the region boasts an employment rate of 79 per cent, with the weekly earnings for a typical adult standing at £707.
Other places that ranked highly on the list included Wychavon in Worcestershire and South Cambridgeshire.
Martin Ellis, housing economist at Halifax - which is part of Bank of Scotland - stated: "East Cambridgeshire has performed consistently well against a wide range of indicators to demonstrate that its residents have amongst the best quality of life in rural Britain."
He added the findings demonstrate that a high standard of living does not need to be costly, as typical house prices in relation to local earnings in the region were below the average recorded for rural areas.
