Property News - Work set to begin on Blackpool housing project

A new Blackpool housing scheme is set to get up and running in the next few days.

Work will commence on a new home-building scheme in the Bispham area of Blackpool before the end of this month.

It will see 44 run-down council homes being demolished and 31 new dwellings constructed in their place, the Blackpool Gazette reports.

Of the new homes, 26 will be designed for families, with 13 three-bedroom properties, 11 two-bedroom homes and the last two having four rooms.

Developed by Southdale Homes on behalf of the Great Places Housing Association, the homes will mostly be available for rent, with five of them sold at an affordable price.

Dan Bishop, the lead designer for the project from Croft Goode architects, said: "The designs mean the homes are much more in keeping with the existing urban grain of the All Hallows Road area of Bispham."

This would make them a more "comfortable" fit with the area than the apartments in place before, he remarked.

Planning permission for the scheme was granted in 2011.
