Property News - Plan for thousands of homes in Waltham Forest

As many as 2,000 new homes are in line for development in Waltham Forest in the coming years.

Plans have been announced that aim to considerably boost the provision of new homes in the London borough of Waltham Forest in the years ahead.

A new report has been published by Waltham Forest Council that has outlined the massive need for new housing in the area at present, but also the positive steps that can now be taken to address the ongoing shortage of homes in the area.

The report stated: "Based on our initial assessment, we believe that council-owned developable sites can contribute a further estimated 2,000 units to be shovel-ready by 2020."

It added that Waltham Forest has witnessed a 23 per cent increase in the number of individuals being placed in temporary accommodation in the past year alone, while the local population has grown by just over 18 per cent in the last decade.

As a result, plans to deliver up to 12,000 new homes are now being drawn up and are likely to receive considerable support when put forward to local planning authorities in the coming months.
