Property News - UK public reveal their 'dream home'

The UK's dream home would be a four-bed detached, new research has shown.

New research from AA Home Insurance has revealed the UK public's "dream home".

Based on a poll of more than 1,200 UK adults from across the country, the results showed that the most popular responses depicted a four-bedroom detached home in rural south-west England.

Overall, 39 per cent of respondents said they would rather live in the countryside (against just six per cent that would rather live in a city), while for 31 per cent of people, their perfect property would be less than ten years old.

When it came to location there was some disparity in the findings though, as while the south-west came out on top in terms of regional popularity, 26 per cent of people said they they would be happier with their perfect home in the place they currently reside.

Responding to the results, head of AA Home Membership Helen Brooker said: "This research shows that the British public largely agree about what they want in a dream home - except for the location."
