Property News - Eco-measures 'help negate' utilities hikes

Gas and electricity prices are rising, but eco-friendly measures can help improve energy efficiency and save householders' money.

That is according to British Eco Energy, a firm which provides renewable energy technologies for homeowners and public sector projects.

A spokesperson for the company explained that there are a number of interesting options open to people who wish to improve their energy efficiency - from rain harvesting to wind turbines and solar cubes.

"Gas is going up, electricity is going up, if you can save yourself money and make yourself more eco-friendly, then the more people go for it," he said.

The representative urged homeowners to work out a budget for any eco-improvements they wish to make, adding: "Work out where you want to be in the next 18 months to two years time and start moving towards it."

According to the Energy Saving Trust, nearly half of all carbon dioxide emissions in the UK come from every-day energy lost at home and during travel.
