Property News - FMB welcomes Conservative housing proposals

Conservative Party house building plans have been welcomed by the FMB.

The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) has announced its support for plans put forward by the Conservative Party to increase house building across the country in the years ahead.

Unveiled as part of the Conservative manifesto ahead of next month's general election, the proposals included measures aimed at boosting support to first-time buyers, as well as focusing on increasing the supply of new homes.

FMB chief executive Brian Berry said the promise of addressing the nation's housing issues is one that is extremely welcome following years of under-performance.

He commented: "The next government will need to remain focused on the barriers to housing supply and need for greater diversity in the house building industry; in particular minimising the barriers to SME house builders building out small sites."

Mr Berry concluded that the next parliament will be a crucial time in maintaining the supply-side focus for the delivery of much-needed new homes across the UK.
