Located in an enviable position in the heart of the Huntingdonshire village of Barham, with far reaching views over the Cambridgeshire countryside, we are delighted to offer for sale this fabulous property.

Originally built in the 1970s, Fairfield House has been extended at various stages in the last fifty years to create a light, spacious home.

With over 2800 square feet of living accommodation in the main house, ample parking for several cars, outbuildings and a stunning, landscaped rear garden this property is a must see for the family market.

The ground floor accommodation is currently arranged with a central drawing room, snug, playroom, study and a fabulous kitchen/dining area with a huge orangery which looks out onto the rear garden and the neighbour's paddocks beyond.

On the first floor are five bedrooms, with a large family bathroom, shower room and a stunning en-suite to the principal room.

Outside is parking for several cars as well as a double carriage barn, workshop, utility area and an office with approved planning for further development above the carriage barn.

Less than six miles from the highly regarded Kimbolton school and less than seven miles from the bustling town of Huntingdon with an array of shops and high speed rail links to London and Peterborough the property has huge appeal for families and commuters alike.

Early internal inspection is strongly advised.

Seller Insight

Positioned in the quiet rural hamlet of Barham is Fairfield House, a picture perfect five-bedroom family home that boasts spectacular countryside views. "The house was a definite project when we bought it nineteen years ago, so in terms of what sold it to us, I'd say it was largely the location," says the owner. "Barham is a lovely little hamlet, very peaceful and we're surrounded by rolling countryside making it a very pretty place to live. However, we're just a stone's throw from the intersection of the A14 and A1 – although the roads don't impact on the tranquillity of our surroundings in the slightest making it easy to get to places such as Huntingdon, Peterborough and Cambridge; and from Huntingdon station it's under an hour to get into Kings Cross which is ideal for commuting. It's one of those places that has allowed us to enjoy the best of both worlds."

"The house itself was stuck in a 1970s time warp and the ground floor needed reconfiguring to make it more conducive to modern living. During our time here we've done an awful lot of work and it's now absolutely lovely throughout. We moved the kitchen to an area of the house that overlooks the garden, removed some internal walls to create a fabulous open-plan space, and seven years ago we added a gorgeous orangery that flows seamlessly from the kitchen creating a lovely dining area and a great space for parties. The old kitchen became the children's playroom and we removed the hideous central brick fireplace which cut the drawing room in half. We also felt that the front of the house was missing something so we added a pretty oak porch which gives the house great curb appeal."

"The house is now a really comfortable and very good-looking family home, and it's beautifully framed by the very pretty garden. We feel very lucky because there are open and unobstructed countryside views to the front and rear of the property. It's been a lovely space for the children and really nice for relaxing and entertaining. The overall feel of space and light are just a couple of the features that we're really going to miss when we leave."

"The orangery is my favourite part of the house. It's stretches right the way along the back and connects to not only the kitchen, but also the snug and drawing room creating a seamless flow from room to room."

"The house is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside so you almost get the feeling of being miles from anywhere. However, we can get to both Huntingdon and St Neots in a matter of minutes, and nearby Kimbolton is a lovely little market town with a sought-after school so it's a very popular place for families."

"Outside there is a large carriage barn and a sizeable driveway with plenty of parking space, which has been ideal, particularly since the children now have their own cars."

"As well as this gorgeous setting, I think it will be all the changes we've made to the house that I'll miss most," says the owner. "It's now very light and bright throughout, and it's a really comfortable family home, and it's filled with lots of very happy memories."
